Fire fighters are heroes, risking their lives to save others but sadly they often sustain physical injuries whilst carrying out their duties.

The Fire Fighters Charity helps fire fighters when they need it most, providing vital support services for all fire fighters. With three specialist centres across the UK, The Fire Fighters Charity provides fire fighters with the help they need to recover from injury, surgery or illness, so they can get back to their job of saving lives.

It costs over £9 million every year to keep the Charity running, and with no government funding, we are completely reliant upon donations and fundraising, so all support is very much needed.

About The Fire Fighters Charity Textile Recycling Scheme

Did you know…
Britain produces around 650,000 tonnes of textile waste a year and textiles make up 12% of landfill sites. Sadly only a quarter of this is recycled.  By helping the Charity you will also be helping the environment – textile recycling puts less pressure on landfill sites and creates less pollution.  It also helps reduce the need for raw materials to produce new clothes.

W H Tracey is working in partnership with the Fire Fighters Charity to raise vital funds to help support injured Fire Fighters.

The Fire Fighters Charity Recycling Scheme is a fantastic way to raise money for the Charity, plus help the environment.  The scheme includes opportunities to recycle textiles via our strategically located clothes banks as well as through our door to door collections.

Textile Recycling Banks

The Fire Fighters Charity clothing banks can be found in public locations such as parks, libraries, shopping centres, public car parks and fire stations, and offer the opportunity to recycle your unwanted clothes, shoes and other household textiles such as curtains or bedding, easily and conveniently.

The clothing banks are emptied and serviced on a regular basis, to ensure the bank itself remains in good condition, and to enable the recycling companies to start the recycling process, which in turn benefits the Charity.

The Fire Fighters Charity will receive 20% of the value of all recycled garments from our recycling partners. Each clothing bank has a community message on it, to help bring greater awareness of fire safety in the local area.

Textile Recycling Collection Scheme

The Fire Fighters Charity recycling scheme includes a recycling bag collection service, which is generally carried out via a door-to-door campaign, through a joint fundraising initiative.

For the door-to-door campaigns, specially printed bags are dropped off to every house in a particular region, so that clothing items can be donated from home, with no real effort required from you. Our collection vans will then visit these areas around one week later to collect any donated items.
